At 20 years old, Bessem’s life is a profound testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Although she was born into a world of light, her reality shifted into shadow in Form 3 when, despite three courageous surgeries, she lost her vision. This physical transition was made even more painful by her father’s abandonment and her mother’s failing health—a double loss that left her to navigate a silent darkness with very little support. For a time, these overwhelming challenges forced Bessem to set aside her education, but her story has since taken a powerful, hopeful turn. Now residing at the Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind (Bulu Center), she has returned to her studies at Bilingual Grammar School Molyko and is currently preparing for her GCE O-Levels in June 2026. Bessem’s journey is fueled by a clear and unwavering ambition: to become a Barrister. Inspired from a young age by the ethics and societal impact of the legal profession, she is determined to advocate for justice despite the enormous obstacles in her path. Guided by her faith in God and an internal vision that remains unbroken, Bessem is proving that while she may have lost her sight, her path to excellence has never been more defined.
To maintain her academic momentum, Bessem requires consistent support for her specialized learning materials and daily logistics:
Specialized Learning Tools: Braille/Grid papers and stationery (Estimated 15,000 XAF).
Daily Sustenance & Mobility: Feeding and safe transportation to school (Estimated 30,000 XAF/month).
Academic Tutoring: Targeted study support for Geography, a subject where she currently faces technical challenges due to her visual impairment.
Beyond financial aid, the most transformative gift Bessem could receive is mentorship. We are seeking a professional in the legal field or an advocate for Civil Action who can "hold her hand"—offering guidance, ethical grounding, and a roadmap toward her goal of practicing law for the greater good.
