The Palm Innovation & Circular Economy Project is Bourgie Collection’s flagship initiative dedicated to transforming palm resources into high-quality products that support everyday living, wellness, and sustainable development. As a registered social enterprise in Cameroon, we harness the full potential of the palm value chain—from cultivation and harvesting to processing and product development—to create nutritious food products, natural oils, cosmetics, soaps, and eco-friendly by-products.
Our approach is built on innovation and responsible resource utilization. Rather than treating palm processing residue as waste, we convert it into valuable products such as detergent, hair products and charcoal ensuring maximum value is extracted from every stage of production. This circular production model promotes environmental sustainability while creating economic opportunities for farmers, women, youth, and local entrepreneurs.
At Bourgie Collection, we believe that palm products should go beyond traditional uses. Through research, innovation, and quality-driven processing, we are redefining the palm industry by creating affordable, skin-friendly, and wellness-focused products that improve livelihoods and contribute to a greener, more inclusive economy.
From palm to product, we are creating value for people, communities, and the environment—one innovation at a time.
Rarely will you enter a Cameroonian household without finding palm oil in the kitchen. It is more than just a cooking ingredient—it is an essential part of the nation's culinary identity. From eru, koki, porridge cocoyams, kati kati, okok, sanga, and countless other traditional dishes, palm oil provides the rich colour, distinctive aroma, and authentic flavour that define Cameroonian cuisine. For many recipes, particularly soups and sauces, palm concentrate is indispensable for achieving the depth of taste that consumers expect. Yet preparing fresh palm concentrate is often labour-intensive and time-consuming.
Bourgie Collection is transforming this experience through its ready-to-use Palm Paste, an innovative product that reduces meal preparation time by up to 80% without compromising authenticity, flavour, or nutritional value. Complementing this is our premium-quality Palm Oil, carefully processed to preserve its natural richness and enhance the nutritional quality of everyday meals. By delivering convenient, high-quality palm products, Bourgie Collection enables families, restaurants, and food businesses to enjoy the authentic taste of Cameroon while saving valuable time in the kitchen. Our products are not only enriching diets—they are modernising the way traditional foods are prepared and consumed.
The demand for palm oil in Cameroon continues to outpace local supply, particularly in Buea, where rapid urbanization has significantly reduced the availability of agricultural land for oil palm cultivation. As local production declines, retailers and food vendors increasingly rely on supplies transported from neighbouring towns. This dependence on external markets drives up transportation and logistics costs, resulting in higher retail prices that place an additional financial burden on households and small businesses.
Bourgie Collection is addressing this gap by strengthening Buea's local palm value chain through the production and distribution of affordable, high-quality palm products. By increasing the availability of locally processed palm oil, palm paste, and other palm derivatives, we reduce reliance on distant suppliers, lower distribution costs, improve market accessibility, and support the livelihoods of retailers. Ultimately, our approach contributes to a more resilient domestic supply chain while ensuring that households can continue to access an essential dietary staple at affordable prices.
At Bourgie Collection, innovation begins on the farm. Our plantation comprises five farm sites, three of which are currently planted with mature oil palms. While these trees have supported production over the years, some have exceeded their most productive lifespan or have been affected by palm diseases, resulting in lower yields. Our research and development efforts focus on restoring productivity while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our plantations. The first step involves careful pruning and rehabilitation of palms that can still be revitalised. For trees that are no longer productive, we implement a regeneration programme by removing them and replanting high-quality oil palm seedlings. This continuous renewal process enables us to improve farm productivity, strengthen disease resilience, and secure a sustainable supply of raw materials for our palm-based products. By investing in healthier plantations today, we are building a stronger, more resilient palm value chain for the future.
Bridging the wide divide between traditional and virtual marketing isn’t just a strategy for us—it’s how we respect the diverse ways our community connects. We know that online clicks alone can’t replace the deep trust built over an shared conversation or a neighbor's honest recommendation, just as old-school methods can no longer match the incredible reach of a digital space. By beautifully intertwining these two worlds, our marketing and sales approach meets people exactly where they are. We rely on the authentic power of community referral networks and face-to-face physical sales to establish our iron-clad reputation for quality, while simultaneously leveraging dynamic virtual marketing networks to amplify our voice online. This balanced, human-centered approach ensures that whether a customer shakes our hand in person or discovers us through a screen, they experience the same unwavering reliability, warmth, and excellence that defines our brand.
Projecting our innovative eco-cycle model, Bourgie Collection drives revenue through a diverse, resilient product line that includes farm equipment rentals and tool sales for small-scale farmers, high-margin agricultural items like premium palm paste and pure palm oil, and value-added sustainable goods such as eco-friendly laundry soaps, all-natural haircare cosmetics, and ecological charcoal. As our production footprint expands to meet rising market demand, our operational scaling naturally drives a critical need for local farm hands and production staff. By deliberately anchoring our hiring framework around youth empowerment, community livelihood enhancement, and sustainable living, we are turning our supply chain into a powerful engine for social mobility—proving that commercial scalability and profound grassroots community impact can grow hand in hand.
